Second Sunday Open House Tours - Weston Declaration Day
Visit us on Sunday, September 13th from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. for a special Second Sunday Open House at 662 Boston Post Road in Weston, Massachusetts. Tours will start at noon and end at 3 p.m. during this special celebration day. The Golden Ball Tavern will be showcasing the Brown Bess musket which was recently donated to the museum. It will be on view in our Visitors Center with the full story of its provenance. It stands as an instrument of an empire and a reminder of the turbulent years of the American Revolution.
Beginning at 1 pm in front of the GBT, a Tavern Stroll is being planned by the town's Declaration Day Committee, led by George Washington, Paul Revere on his horse, Abigail Adams, and other revolutionary figures, along with two horse-drawn carriages, fife and drummers and more. The route along Boston Post Road will include a stop at the historic Burgoyne Elm and will conclude at the Josiah Smith Tavern, where there will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 2 pm, followed by Colonial games and entertainments, carriage rides, and magic lantern shows, with food and local crafts available for purchase.
